About the project

For many, the decision-making process in Brussels remains obscure – yet these decisions affect the lives of 500 million citizens across Europe.

This tool makes it easier for citizens to find out know how politicians voted on decisions that affect their future – on climate change, shale gas and genetically modified crops. It will help them find decide who they want to vote for, and to hold those they choose accountable for their promises.

This website analyses voting records of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Several contributors inspired by CAN Europe's climate scorecards focused on translating that effort into the climate policy section. Friends of the Earth Europe concentrated on policy to stop the expansion of genetically modified crops and shale gas development in Europe. The project aims to improve transparency and to help European citizens hold their MEPs accountable. It is neither endorsement nor condemnation of individual MEPs or their political parties and groups.

Organisations

Friends of the Earth Europe is the largest grassroots environmental network in Europe, uniting more than 30 national organisations with thousands of local groups. We are the European arm of Friends of the Earth International which unites 74 national member organisations, some 5,000 local activist groups, and over two million supporters around the world. Our campaigns focus on today's most urgent environmental and social issues. We challenge the current model of economic and corporate globalization, and promote solutions that will help to create environmentally sustainable and socially just societies. We seek to increase public participation and democratic decision-making.

Vredesactie radically pleads for the resolution of conflicts without violence or the threat thereof. We combine thorough analysis with an action-minded approach to wage effective campaigns. Through campaigns and trainings we increase the capabilities of individuals and groups to take action against injustice and violence. With the campaign Ctrl+Alt+EU: No Military Europe we want to expose and denounce the militarisation of Europe tailored to the arms industry. With non-violent actions in the EU quarter we want to burst the Brussels Bubble of experts: the undemocratic realm in which CEOs, lobbyists and EU officials make and shape EU policy.

The Campagne tegen Wapenhandel is revealing and exposing arms trade and arms production. We campaign against arms export to poor countries, undemocratic regimes and countries in conflict areas. We oppose public funding of arms trade and arms production by governments, EU and public financial institutions. We want to end the excessive lobby influence of big military companies.
